IS IT TIME FOR LIME?

Need-Lime-Moss-Lawn.jpg

Liming is important for the health of a lawn.

It restores balance in overly acidic soil to bring pH back to optimal growing levels and contributes to a lush, green, resilient lawn.

The quantity of lime needed can get tricky. It is best to have a professional evaluate your lawn to determine if, when and how often a lime application is needed.

What causes the change in the soil's pH level?

*Heavy rainfall or over irrigation, which leaches calcium, potassium and magnesium from the soil.

*Incorrect fertilizer, which has the potential to increase acidic conditions.

*Watering with acidic water.

How will Central Penn Turf determine if lime is needed?

Central Penn Turf will do a field test to determine the pH level of your lawn.  It may be necessary in some situations to have a soil sample taken from the lawn and sent to a testing laboratory to determine the pH level in the soil. When the pH level is determined, a plan for lime application will be established, discussed with the customer and put into place.

When will Central Penn Turf do the lime application(s)?

Lime will be applied any time of year with the exception of frost-covered turf.

Note: Liming materials vary, differ in price, effectiveness and ease of application.

It is best to have a professional take over your liming needs.
